The Government has amended the state aid scheme for carriers, and the compensation granted for diesel used in transport activities will decrease from 85 bani to 43, 57, or 71 bani per liter. The new amounts apply depending on the level of the excise duty reduction activated during the period of crisis on the crude oil and petroleum products market.
The amendment concerns Government Decision no. 1094/2025 and aligns the compensation scheme with the provisions of Law no. 162/2026. The normative act introduces a dynamic mechanism for adjusting the excise duty on standard diesel, which may be reviewed once every two weeks.
The calculation will take into account variations in Platts diesel quotations and changes in the average pump price. If the excise duty is reduced by 15%, carriers will receive 71 bani per liter, compared with 85 bani currently. For a 20% reduction, the compensation will be 57 bani per liter, while for a 25% decrease, the aid will amount to 43 bani per liter.
Thus, the separate compensation granted to carriers will be adjusted during periods when the general reduction of the excise duty at national level also applies. The greater the reduction in the excise duty, the smaller the amount reimbursed through the state aid scheme will be.
