German discounter Penny will open the first stand-alone store in Romania, where products are automatically scanned by a smart camera system.

The new store will open on May 29 in sector 6 of the capital. The company ended 2023 with a turnover of more than 8.32 billion lei, up 16% on the previous year. Investments were mainly focused on the expansion and modernization of the network, but also on the development of logistics skills.
