A detainee from the Iași Penitentiary escaped on Tuesday morning, but was quickly caught by the police in a train station.

An escape incident occurred on Tuesday morning at the Iași Penitentiary, where an inmate at a work point at the Church of Saints "Athanasios and Cyril" left the location in an unknown direction. The authorities were immediately notified by the penitentiary management, and the police began the search. Shortly after, a prison officer, who was off duty, spotted the escaped person at the Nicolina train station, Iași County.

He requested assistance from the officers of the Iași Regional Transport Police to apprehend the man. The inmate, sentenced to 3 years in prison for aggravated theft, was taken back to the penitentiary to continue serving his sentence.
