A Bucharest resident was placed in preventive custody after attempting to break into three houses on the same evening

A 33-year-old man from Bucharest was placed in preventive custody for 30 days while being investigated for three attempted aggravated burglaries and trespassing, committed on the same evening in Sector 5 of the capital. The court’s decision was taken after the man had been detained for 24 hours.

Officers from Police Station 19 intervened on Monday evening, around 10:30 p.m., after a 63-year-old resident called 112 and reported that someone was trying to take goods from his home. The suspect was found nearby, restrained in accordance with legal procedures, and taken to the police station for questioning.

Investigators are also looking into two other incidents reported that same evening. The first allegedly took place around 8:00 p.m., when the man allegedly entered the yard of a house and tried to leave with goods, after being spotted by the owner. Approximately an hour and a half later, at another address, he was allegedly caught by the injured party in the property’s yard.

The case is being handled by Police Station 19 under the supervision of prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Sector 5 District Court. Investigations are continuing to establish all the circumstances. Preventive detention does not remove the presumption of innocence.
