French judges rejected on Tuesday, for the third time, the extradition request of the former prince of Romania, Paul Lambrino, on the grounds that it would violate human rights. The Court of Appeal in Paris argued that reissuing the arrest warrant in the same case would be disproportionate. Although this decision is not final, the Prosecutor's Office next to the Paris Court of Appeal intends to appeal.
Paul Lambrino was detained on April 7, based on a new warrant, but was released pending the decision. He has a conviction from 2020 to 3 years and 4 months in prison related to the restitution of the Băneasa Royal Farm, a case with an estimated damage of 145 million euros. France has also previously refused his extradition, and Paul was caught in Malta, where he faced the same fate.
