The Caravan with Doctors, supported by Boehringer Ingelheim, will offer free diabetes screening to 11,000 people in rural communities in Romania, from October 2025 to December 2026. The project will reach all counties, including Timiș, Brașov, Iași, Bihor, Dolj, Ialomița, and Constanța, aiming to provide preventive medical assistance in areas with limited access to health services.

The screening will include blood tests and paraclinical examinations, and patients will receive personalized consultations. Boehringer Ingelheim will support the initiative with 1.1 million euros, as part of the global health program "Sustainable Development for Generations" (SD4G), which aims to expand access to medical assistance for disadvantaged communities.

Type 2 diabetes affects 11.6% of the population of Romania, and this program aims to identify undiagnosed patients and improve long-term outcomes by connecting them with the healthcare system. The Caravan with Doctors, active since 2014, promotes equitable access to medical assistance through mobile services.
