Ioana Timofte, former general director of the National Company for the Control of Boilers, Lifting Installations and Pressure Vessels S.A. (C.N.C.I.R.), along with six other employees and associates, has been sent to trial by DNA prosecutors for continuous bribery. Between 2021 and 2023, Timofte allegedly received ten luxury stays in destinations such as Greece, Italy, Spain, and Turkey, totaling 586,492 lei and 39,707 euros, from representatives of two commercial companies with which she illegally concluded professional training contracts. Prosecutors claim that Timofte created an appearance of legality for conducting the courses, through illegal procurement procedures and the issuance of participation diplomas. The other defendants also allegedly benefited from stays disguised under the pretext of organizing these courses.
