Firefighters are searching for a person in Lake Bentu Mare after their car overturned in the water

Firefighters in Ialomița are responding on Thursday, October 1, to search for and rescue a person who witnesses say may have overturned their car in Lake Bentu Mare, in the Bălții Ialomiței area, and may have been unable to reach the surface. The mission is ongoing, and the person has not been found so far.

According to the Ialomița Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, an emergency response vehicle equipped with water and foam, an inflatable boat, an APIC crew, and a crew from the County Ambulance Service have been dispatched to the scene.

For the water search operations, the Ialomița Inspectorate for Emergency Situations requested the assistance of divers from the Bucharest-Ilfov Inspectorate for Emergency Situations. They are heading to the lake to take part in the response.

The first deputy chief inspector of the Ialomița Inspectorate for Emergency Situations is also heading to the scene. The authorities are to establish the circumstances in which the car may have ended up in the water and the status of the person being sought.
