A fire in the locomotive of a passenger train has led to the evacuation of 300 passengers in Balota, Mehedinți County.

The fire broke out in the locomotive of train IRN 79, on the route Arad - Bucharest North, and was quickly extinguished by firefighters. It caused delays on several railway lines, but traffic was later resumed. The probable cause of the fire was a thermal effect caused by a faulty electrical cable. A minibus was sent to the scene to evacuate passengers.
