Firefighters from Dâmbovița intervened on Sunday to extinguish a fire that broke out in the town of Bălteni, located near Bucharest. The fire engulfed household waste, plastics, and dry vegetation over an area of approximately 1,000 square meters, and the smoke prompted the authorities to warn the population through the Ro-Alert system.
According to the Dâmbovița Emergency Situations Inspectorate, firefighters were called at around 12:54 p.m. Three water and foam firefighting vehicles were deployed at the scene.
The authorities have not specified so far the cause of the fire or whether any casualties or damage to buildings were recorded. The Ro-Alert message was sent as a warning measure due to the smoke produced by the burning of waste, plastic materials, and dry vegetation. Rescue workers continue their intervention to completely extinguish the fire.
