An improvised incendiary device was placed on the sidewalk, on Monday, next to the outer fence of the Romanian Embassy in Switzerland and caught fire, confirmed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on Wednesday. The incident is considered by the Swiss authorities to be part of the category of minor incidents, but an investigation has been opened due to its proximity to an embassy.

"This triggered a small vegetation fire, which was extinguished by the embassy team until the arrival of the fire crews. No one from the diplomatic mission's team was injured," the MFA reported on Wednesday.

The Swiss authorities consider the incident minor, but have opened an investigation, and Romania is cooperating with them to clarify the circumstances. The police in Bern, under the coordination of the Prosecutor's Office, are investigating the case, and pedestrian traffic near the embassy was temporarily diverted during the intervention.
