The Russian Embassy in Bucharest rejected accusations that Moscow organized the fire that broke out on September 14 at an enterprise in Brașov, arguing that the Romanian side had presented no evidence. The reaction came after Russian diplomatic representative Vladimir Lipaev was summoned to the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the embassy’s statement, Lipaev categorically denied any involvement by the Russian Federation in acts of sabotage on the territory of Romania or other states. Russian diplomats, in turn, accused Romanian authorities of attributing to Moscow methods they associate with Ukraine.
In the same statement, the Russian Embassy rejected accusations of Moscow’s involvement in recent incidents in the Black Sea, including those occurring in Romania’s territorial waters. Russian representatives claimed that Ukraine and the states supporting it represent the main threat to navigation in the region, without presenting evidence for these claims in the statement.
Vladimir Lipaev reportedly asked the Romanian authorities not to consider Russia a threat and not to follow the policy of escalation attributed to the leadership of NATO and the European Union. The accusations and denials are part of a tense diplomatic exchange amid the war in Ukraine and security incidents in the Black Sea region.
