On Saturday evening, a devastating fire occurred in the commune of Vărșag, Harghita County, where a 93-year-old woman died as a result of the flames that engulfed her home. According to the Harghita Emergency Situations Inspectorate, the fire affected both the residential house and an outbuilding, destroying approximately 90% of them. At the scene, firefighters from the Odorheiu Secuiesc Detachment, equipped with two fire engines and an SMURD ambulance, intervened to extinguish the fire. Additionally, the Vărșag Volunteer Emergency Service was involved in the rescue operations. Unfortunately, the woman was found deceased inside the house.
