The Vaslui Tribunal extended the preventive arrest of the controversial businessman Fănel Bogos.

The judges from the Vaslui Tribunal decided on Friday to extend the preventive arrest of businessman Fănel Bogos and three other defendants for another 30 days, in a corruption case. They are accused by the DNA of influence peddling, trafficking in influence, blackmail, and bribery, in an attempt to replace the director of DSVSA Vaslui. Fănel Bogos has been in custody since November 6 and requested a milder preventive measure, arguing that the arrest could affect his business and the jobs of his employees, but the request was denied.

Prosecutors claim that Bogos resorted to networks of influence, including former generals and officers from the secret services, to obtain favors from the leadership of ANSVSA. In this context, Bogos had a meeting with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, about which he stated that it had no relevance. The other defendants in the case, including Laura Iusein and Mihail Anișei, are accused of having received large sums of money to intervene in favor of Bogos. The decision to extend the preventive arrest is valid until January 4, but it is not final.
