The President of the Vaslui County Council, Ciprian Trifan, was questioned Thursday morning at the Iași Territorial Service of the DNA, in the case in which businessman Fănel Bogos is being investigated for using networks of influence in public administration. According to judicial sources, Trifan is a witness.
Ciprian Trifan entered the DNA headquarters without making any statements. He only said that he “was invited, not summoned.” Trifan became president of the Vaslui County Council in 2024, after previously serving as vice president of the institution and being considered close to former president Dumitru Buzatu.
The questioning is related to a meeting organized on February 14, 2025, by former lawmaker and former vice president of the Vaslui County Council Dan Mihai Marian. Trifan, prefect Daniel Onofrei, and Mihai Barbu, a former PNL treasurer and leader of the county organization, attended the discussion. Prosecutors claim that the meeting concerned replacing Mihai Ponea as head of the Vaslui DSVSA, a change desired by Fănel Bogos.
Investigators state that the businessman turned to influential people to secure the appointment of individuals who would favor his financial interests. Bogos even reached Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan after Mihai Barbu allegedly obtained an audience for him.
Barbu and Cristina Trăilă are also being investigated in the case.
Fănel Bogos was arrested on November 6, and subsequently the DNA requested that his arrest be replaced with judicial supervision.
