The President of the Concordia Employers' Confederation, Dan Șucu, stated that reducing the minimum turnover tax (IMCA) to 0.5% starting January 1, 2026, followed by its elimination in 2027, is not sufficient.
He emphasized that "a smaller brake is still a brake," arguing that the tax continues to discourage investments in essential sectors such as IT&C, trade, and production. The complete elimination of this tax could free up between 1.3 and 1.5 billion lei for productive investments. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan argued that the 1% turnover tax has significantly reduced the volume of foreign investments in Romania and highlighted the need to discuss in the coalition the reduction or elimination of this tax.
