Elena Udrea criticizes the political deadlock and calls for elected officials to resign after the parties failed to propose a prime minister

Elena Udrea, a former tourism minister, harshly criticizes the political class in a message posted on Facebook, arguing that the parties have failed to offer a solution for the position of prime minister and for forming a government.

Udrea says politicians lose their role in running the country when they seek solutions among businesspeople or representatives of nongovernmental organizations. In her view, the deadlock demonstrates the political class’s failure to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to it by voters.

The former minister cites several possible causes of the impasse: calculations aimed at retaining positions, fear of losing electoral support, lack of competence, and an inability to negotiate. She argues that current elected officials are overwhelmed by Romania’s political, economic, and social problems—problems that, Udrea claims, they themselves created.
