On the night from Saturday to Sunday, at 1:54 AM, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.5 occurred in the seismic area of Vrancea, Vrancea County, according to the National Institute for Earth Physics Research and Development.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 155.8 kilometers and was felt near the cities of Focșani (42 km west), Buzău (59 km north), Sfântu-Gheorghe (69 km east), Brașov (80 km east), and Ploiești (93 km northeast). Since the beginning of the year, Romania has recorded 31 earthquakes with magnitudes between 2 and 3.7.
The largest earthquakes in 2025, both with a magnitude of 4.4, occurred in Buzău County on February 13 and in Vrancea County on May 11.
