A 3.3-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Vrancea seismic zone at a depth of 142.8 kilometers

A weak earthquake, with a magnitude of 3.3, occurred on Thursday night into Friday, at 1:33 a.m. local time, in the Vrancea seismic zone, Buzău County, according to data published by the National Research and Development Institute for Earth Physics (INCDFP).

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 142.8 kilometers in an area located 55 kilometers southeast of Sfântu-Gheorghe, 58 kilometers east of Brașov and 59 kilometers south of Buzău. The epicenter was also 66 kilometers south of Focșani, 72 kilometers north of Ploiești and 99 kilometers northeast of Târgoviște.

According to the INCDFP's report, since the beginning of September, 16 earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2 to 4.1 have been recorded in Romania.

The strongest earthquake recorded in Romania this year had a magnitude of 4.5 and occurred on February 26 in Vrancea County.
