A magnitude 3.5 earthquake occurred on Saturday morning at 4:22 a.m. local time in the Vrancea seismic zone, Buzău County, according to the National Research and Development Institute for Earth Physics (INCDFP). The earthquake occurred at a depth of 140.9 kilometers.
The earthquake occurred near the cities of Focșani, 55 kilometers away, Buzău, 59 kilometers away, Sfântu-Gheorghe, 60 kilometers away, Brașov, 68 kilometers away, and Ploiești, 83 kilometers away.
Nearly two hours earlier, at 2:41 a.m., another earthquake with a magnitude of 2.9 was recorded in the same seismic zone. It occurred in Vrancea County, at a depth of 136.9 kilometers, near several cities, including Focșani, Buzău, and Sfântu-Gheorghe.
The strongest earthquake recorded in Romania this year had a magnitude of 4.5 and occurred on February 26 in Vrancea County.
