USR leader Dominic Fritz claims that the election results in the United States represent a clear rejection of Donald Trump’s policies, extremist rhetoric, and hate-based discourse. In a post published on Facebook, Fritz states that the Democrats achieved a major victory and will have a majority in both chambers of Congress, which would limit the president’s political power during the final two years of his term.
Fritz identifies three messages relevant to Romania.
“A historic good morning! Electoral massacre in the US—the Democrats achieved an overwhelming victory and will have a clear majority in both chambers of Congress.
Donald Trump is becoming a “lame duck”; he has two years of the presidency left without power in Congress.
3 quick conclusions for Romania:
1. American voters voted for clear change, even though until a few months ago everyone said it was impossible to change the Senate as well. Kansas, for example, will send a Democratic senator to Washington, DC for the first time since 1932, something inconceivable until now.
So let’s stop hearing that we cannot win, that we are too dreamy. After Hungary and Serbia, this is yet another example: The System can be defeated if we organize and do not allow ourselves to be intimidated.
2. American voters rejected hate rhetoric and selfish politics that fail to deliver results for them. A warning to the arrogant crooks in Romania (I’m looking at you, PSD): Romanians’ anger over your shamelessly displayed corruption, while prices are rising for everyone, will sweep you away too.
3. MAGA will be history, and Romania must build its strategic partnership with the US without getting ideologically twisted toward the far right. We are Europeans, and on the basis of our common interests we can be partners with the US without bowing our heads,” USR president Dominic Fritz wrote on Facebook on Wednesday morning.
