USR President Dominic Fritz stated on Wednesday that many of President Nicușor Dan’s voters are disappointed, believing that their vote was given for a bold reform agenda. The statement was made during a conference held at the USR headquarters.
“Many of Nicușor Dan’s voters tell us that they are disappointed and that they cast their vote, especially in the first round, for something else—for a bold reform agenda. And obviously I can understand this disappointment,” Dominic Fritz stated.
Fritz said that USR no longer has the same relationship with Nicușor Dan as it did at the beginning of this political journey. In his opinion, the main reason for the dissatisfaction is the fact that PSD de facto controls power, although it does not hold a real majority in Parliament.
The USR leader said that the party has a constructive collaboration with PNL President Ilie Bolojan, even though there are differences of opinion. USR and PNL will continue to cooperate for governance without PSD and without AUR, aimed at implementing genuine reforms. However, Fritz ruled out the possibility of a merger between the two formations.
The USR president specified that the party does not rule out using any leverage available in opposition and that it will not support arrangements through which PSD strengthens its control over the state. He also announced that all USR state secretaries had resigned. USR prefects are expected to be replaced, except in situations where ensuring the functioning of institutions is necessary.
