A fire in an apartment in Piatra Neamț led to the death of a 77-year-old woman and the evacuation of several residents.

A strong fire broke out on Friday in an apartment in a residential building on 1 December 1918 Street in Piatra Neamț, as a result of which a 77-year-old woman was found without vital signs by firefighters.

Upon the arrival of the intervention teams, the stairwell was filled with smoke, and the fire was manifesting inside the apartment on the first floor. Firefighters evacuated 17 people, and another 10 were assisted in leaving the building, some requiring medical assistance. A 49-year-old woman was transported to the hospital with mild smoke inhalation, while another 56-year-old woman suffered a panic attack. It is suspected that the fire was caused by the thermal effect of the electric current.
