The National Company for Road Investments (CNIR) announced the designation of the contractor for the last section of the Unirii Highway, which extends over 15.5 km, with a contract worth 3.57 billion lei, excluding VAT.
The project, which will last almost four years, includes the construction of 14 bridges and passages, two tunnels, one of which is 1760 meters long, and two road junctions. The winning contractor is a partnership of Italian firms, led by ITINERA SPA, and the duration of the contract is 46 months, with 10 months for design and 36 months for execution. The project is of particular importance, marking the first highway over the Prut, including a 5 km segment in the Republic of Moldova. The prioritized segment will connect the Golăiești road junction with the bridge over the Prut at Ungheni.
