The Danube’s flow at the country’s entrance, at the Baziaș section, will rise slightly on Sunday, reaching 1,300 cubic metres per second, according to the forecast issued by the National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management (INHGA) for the period from October 18, 7:00 a.m. to October 19, 7:00 a.m. The figure nevertheless remains well below the multiannual October average of 3,900 cubic metres per second.
Downstream from the Iron Gates, flows will rise slightly along the Gruia–Zimnicea section, remain steady between Giurgiu and Călărași, and decline along the Cernavodă–Tulcea section.
River flows across the country will generally remain steady. The exception is the Siret’s right-bank tributaries, where declines are forecast. The expected precipitation may cause isolated rises in water levels and flows on some small rivers in hilly and mountainous areas, particularly in the centre and east of the country.
Water levels recorded at hydrometric stations will remain below the Alert Levels. On the previous day, flows were generally steady, with slight increases in the Vișeu, Iza, Suceava, Moldova and Bistrița basins and along the upper courses of several rivers. Values generally stood between 30% and 90% of the monthly multiannual averages.
