DAN AIR is temporarily moving all flights departing from or arriving at “George Enescu” International Airport in Bacău to “Henri Coandă” International Airport in Bucharest, starting November 4, 2026. The decision was made amid a dispute with the Bacău airport administration, which requested the initiation of insolvency proceedings against the company and made the continuation of handling services conditional on additional payments.
According to DAN AIR, Bacău Airport filed the insolvency application with the Ilfov Tribunal on October 29. The company is challenging the action and claims that more than 83% of the alleged overdue amounts were no more than 33 days old. The operator says it paid 100,000 lei and was negotiating a repayment schedule for its debts. The company also says it filed its own reorganization application on October 22.
DAN AIR also cites the blockage of more than 900,000 euros collected from passengers through the payment processor NETOPIA, a situation that allegedly caused temporary financial difficulties. These are the company’s explanations; its statement did not include a position from the Bacău Airport management.
Affected passengers will be contacted and may accept departing from Otopeni or request a full ticket refund, under the terms of European Regulation 261/2004. The company says it could return to Bacău after the dispute is resolved and is calling for a change in the airport’s executive management. DAN AIR established its operational base in Bacău in November 2023.
