The National Meridian Union, a representative organization within the Romanian Customs Authority, announces that it will start, from Thursday, a series of protest actions, against the backdrop of dissatisfaction regarding the new salary law project. Following the protests, waiting times at border points could increase.
The protest will involve strict adherence to all customs control procedures, including detailed checks of documents and goods, both at border points and within the country. The measures are driven by dissatisfaction related to the provisions of the new salary law, working conditions, staff shortages, and the lack of adequate dialogue with the authorities. Although customs officers will carry out their activities according to the law, the rigorous application of procedures will lead to increased waiting times and delays in processing customs operations. The union calls on travelers and economic operators to understand the purpose of the action, which is to draw attention to the unresolved issues of customs personnel. Additionally, the union has notified the Romanian Customs Authority regarding the initiation of a labor conflict, including the possibility of a warning strike.
