In the meeting on November 24, 2025, the Supreme Council of National Defense (CSAT) highlighted the importance of preparing Romania for managing the risks of a prolonged armed conflict near its borders. President Nicușor Dan led discussions focused on developing defense capabilities and increasing societal resilience. CSAT approved the National Defense Strategy for 2025-2030, which will be presented to Parliament. Additionally, risks and vulnerabilities for 2026 were assessed, emphasizing the need to strengthen national security.
Another important point was the Investment Plan in the defense industry, which provides for the allocation of over 16 billion euros for military equipment and dual-use infrastructure. These funds will support the development of the Romanian industry and ensure the strategic independence of the country. CSAT emphasized that all programs must be completed by 2030, and collaborations with major European manufacturers will be essential to achieving these objectives.
