The folk music singer Cristian Pomohaci, a former priest, is suspected in a new case of rape of a minor and sexual assault, according to sources cited by G4Media. Police reportedly conducted three home searches in this case on Wednesday.
Sources close to the investigation, cited by G4Media, say that the case concerns actions that took place starting in 2022 and involves "consensual sexual relationships with minors, boys aged up to 16 years".
Although he was previously investigated for sexual relations with minors, the case was closed in February 2019, with prosecutors considering the acts to be time-barred.
In November 2020, Pomohaci was sentenced to one year in prison with a suspended sentence for tax evasion.
Recently, the Archdiocese of Alba Iulia issued a circular warning the faithful that Pomohaci is illegally conducting religious services. The Archdiocese specified that it no longer has canonical authority over Pomohaci, who continues to wear the priestly robe, misleading the public.
