Representatives of the Regional Directorate of Roads and Bridges (DRDP) Brașov announced that the snow removal works on DN7C - Transfăgărășan have reached the most difficult point, where the snow layer exceeds five meters and is mixed with boulders brought by avalanches. This complicates the intervention of the machinery, which continues to work at a sustained pace.
The authorities' objective is to reopen traffic by mid-June. Access to the section of road between Bâlea Cascadă and Bâlea Lac is closed, and tourists can only reach Bâlea Lac, located at over 2,000 meters altitude, by cable car. At the weather station at Bâlea Lac, the snow layer measures 55 centimeters.
