The representatives of the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) announced that the analysis of the objections of unconstitutionality regarding the Law on the payment of private pensions has been postponed to November 12. The complaints were filed by the judges of the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ÎCCJ) and by the senators of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR).
The ÎCCJ unanimously decided to refer the matter to the CCR for constitutional control of the law before its promulgation, citing violations of the right to private property, the principle of proportionality, and equality in rights. AUR criticized the legislative initiative, accusing the Government of trying to "seize" the pensions of Romanians from pillars II and III, emphasizing that if it had been in the interest of taxpayers, they would have voted for its adoption. Also on Wednesday, the CCR rejected the objections of unconstitutionality related to the amendment of the status of deputies and senators.
