The Constitutional Court of Romania has decided to postpone the examination of the complaint by President Nicușor Dan to March 25, which challenges the constitutionality of the law regarding the use of the Black Sea beach. Last November, Nicușor Dan sent a complaint arguing that the law allows local authorities to receive up to 20% of the beaches used for tourism free of charge, which contravenes the Constitution.
The president argues that these authorities do not have the status of public utility institutions, and the right of ownership over the beaches belongs to the state. The contested law could affect the way the Black Sea beaches are managed, having implications for tourism and local administration.
