The general mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, launched harsh criticisms against the Romanian Auto Registry (RAR), which he considers one of the most corrupt institutions in Romania.

He requested statistical information from RAR regarding the number of cars in operation based on pollution standards, necessary for making administrative decisions that impact the population. In the response received, RAR requested the sum of 66,232 lei, VAT included, for providing this data. Ciucu expressed his disappointment on Facebook, emphasizing that he would have preferred transparent communication from state institutions.

His criticisms continued, highlighting the serious operational problems of RAR, in the context where many polluting cars circulate freely on the streets, affecting public health. The mayor emphasized that such practices undermine citizens' trust in state institutions.
