The Constitutional Court (CCR) meeting that was supposed to decide the fate of special pensions for judges was closed due to lack of quorum, as four judges proposed by the PSD left the room. Former CCR judge, Tudorel Toader, stated that this situation is atypical, emphasizing that the law does not impose a limit on postponing decisions. He explained that, theoretically, the CCR can postpone decisions indefinitely, but mentioned that it is unusual for so many judges to leave a meeting, making it impossible to conduct it.
The law stipulates that for a quorum to exist, at least six judges must be present again. The meeting was postponed to December 29, after the judges took a 15-minute break, and then left, leaving the CCR without a quorum.
