Cătălin Predoiu, the Minister of Internal Affairs, stated that the fight against drug consumption is a priority of his mandate, in the context of intensifying operations against traffickers. Recently, authorities discovered the distribution of high-risk drugs under the guise of 'spiritual rituals' in Hunedoara. However, a recent analysis by the Alliance for the Common Good highlights a significant vulnerability of the state: the lack of a unified system to assess the real extent of drug consumption among young people.
The ABC Barometer has centralized data, showing 6,548 cases of young people under 25 in medical records, but the information is inconsistent and does not allow for an accurate assessment of the problem. Moreover, the state focuses on the consequences of consumption, while prevention remains insufficient. The Alliance proposes the creation of a unified national reporting system and the strengthening of the school counseling network to effectively address the phenomenon. The message is clear: Romania must understand the scale of the problem in order to intervene effectively.
