Minister Cătălin Predoiu: The General Directorate of Internal Protection plays an essential role in the national security of Romania, in a tense regional context.

On the occasion of the General Directorate for Internal Protection (DGPI) Day, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Cătălin Predoiu, emphasized the importance of this institution in the context of current national security challenges. In Romania in 2026, national security is based on prevention and anticipation, considering regional tensions and persistent threats such as organized crime and hybrid attacks. DGPI plays an essential role in protecting institutional integrity and ensuring the efficient functioning of the Ministry of Internal Affairs by preventing internal vulnerabilities and protecting sensitive information.

Predoiu mentioned that the digitalization of administration brings both efficiency and new risks, highlighting DGPI's involvement in cybersecurity projects. Additionally, DGPI contributes to inter-institutional and international cooperation, strengthening the capacity to respond to hybrid threats. Predoiu congratulated DGPI for maintaining standards and for achievements in increasing institutional resilience, supporting digitalization projects, and enhancing inter-institutional cooperation.
