Carmen Dan, the former Minister of Internal Affairs, is being heard as a witness in the case in which her sister, Simona Stan, is accused of fraud with an estimated damage of over 1.3 million euros. Investigators are looking into a complex scheme involving false promises of selling homes and cars.
Before the hearings, Carmen Dan stated that she was not aware of her sister's activities and that their relationship is distant. She urged her sister to cooperate with the authorities and tell the truth. According to the Police, Simona Stan and her accomplice, Mariana Popa, presented themselves as influential people in oil companies, promising goods at below-market prices, but which in reality did not exist, causing significant losses to the victims. The searches conducted led to the confiscation of documents and relevant evidence.
