Police in Caracal are investigating a possible attempted abduction involving an 11-year-old child

Police in Caracal are investigating a possible attempted unlawful deprivation of liberty after an 11-year-old child was allegedly approached by three men in a van. The incident reportedly took place on November 1, on Craiovei Street, while the minor was waiting for a relative to go to Craiova, where he was due to participate in a sports competition.

According to initial information, the van was traveling in the opposite direction, then turned around and approached the child. The vehicle’s occupants allegedly asked him whether he was going to Craiova, and the minor reportedly answered affirmatively. The child then allegedly left the area and headed toward a side street.

The van allegedly reversed onto the same street and remained there for several minutes. A person noticed the situation and alerted the authorities by calling 112. Police are reviewing footage captured by surveillance cameras and are trying to identify the people involved.

A criminal case has been opened for attempted unlawful deprivation of liberty. The investigation is being conducted under the coordination of prosecutors, who will establish the exact circumstances of the incident and whether there was an intention to take the child by force.
