Marin Burcea, one of Călin Georgescu’s bodyguards, is being questioned on Friday at the headquarters of DIICOT – Central Structure, as a witness in a case concerning the scanning of the former candidate’s villa in Mogoșoaia to identify surveillance devices.
According to judicial sources, Burcea was summoned to give a statement in the investigation in which Călin Georgescu is accused of allegedly asking a specialist to check the property for microphones installed by prosecutors. The case involves alleged illegal operations involving computer devices or software, as well as an attempt to alter data integrity and disrupt the functioning of computer systems.
DIICOT announced that the property was allegedly checked on September 26, 2026, following the home search conducted on September 21, when investigators also implemented technical surveillance measures. Prosecutors claim that the intended result did not occur for reasons beyond the suspects’ control.
Marin Burcea, known by the nickname “The Sniper,” allegedly served in the Foreign Legion and allegedly worked with Eugen Sechila, according to information published in the national press. Questioning continues at DIICOT headquarters.
