Călin Georgescu, former presidential candidate, has been suspended from his position as a lecturer at the Polytechnic University of Pitești, after being sent to trial for serious charges, including organizing a paramilitary group with the aim of undermining the protests of December 2024. Prosecutors claim that he and an accomplice planned violent actions to undermine constitutional order, using weapons and explosive materials. Georgescu risks losing his position permanently, as his students will graduate before his case is resolved.
