Călin Georgescu, former candidate in the presidential elections, remains under judicial control for another 60 days, after the Bucharest Tribunal rejected his appeal. He is being judged for statements in which he promoted fascist, legionary, racist, or xenophobic ideas. At the tribunal, Georgescu was met by hundreds of supporters, and after his departure, a scuffle occurred between supporters and gendarmes.
The law enforcement forces intervened to extract a recalcitrant man from the crowd, and during the incident, accusations of aggression against a pregnant woman emerged, which the gendarmes denied, stating that their intervention was to protect her. The Gendarmerie emphasized that they acted to maintain order and prevent the escalation of the situation.
