The former independent candidate in the presidential elections, Călin Georgescu, will remain under judicial control, according to the decision made on Friday by the Court of Sector 1. The court confirmed the legality of the preventive measure, rejecting the request for its revocation. Georgescu is accused of several serious offenses, including incitement to actions against the constitutional order, communication of false information, and false statements, particularly regarding the sources of funding for his electoral campaign. He is also facing charges of initiating or establishing an organization with fascist or racist characteristics and promoting extremist ideologies. Judicial control will be reviewed within 60 days, and Georgescu has the right to contest the decision.
