The Bucharest Stock Exchange warns about the proliferation of fake websites that imitate its identity to steal personal and banking data.

BVB has issued a warning regarding the emergence of fraudulent websites that copy the visual identity of the official site to illegally collect personal data and sensitive banking information. These fake sites promise users large sums of money, asking them to fill out forms with critical data, such as the Personal Numeric Code (CNP) and banking details. BVB emphasizes that it never requests such information on its official site. To protect themselves, users are advised to always check the URL, not to provide banking data on suspicious sites, and to contact the institution through official channels if they receive dubious messages. BVB collaborates with authorities to shut down these fraudulent sites and recommends reporting attempts of fraud to the Romanian Police. Additionally, BVB reiterates that the only way to invest in listed companies is by opening a trading account with authorized intermediaries.
