The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) announced on Friday that the cyberattack targeting the Central Depository did not affect its trading infrastructure and systems, and that stock market activity is proceeding normally. Trading sessions and BVB’s other operations continue according to the usual schedule.

The incident was announced Friday morning by the Central Depository and targeted the “Online Services for Investors” application. The institution’s representatives said that immediate measures had been taken to investigate and remedy the situation.

According to the Central Depository, the attack had no consequences for critical services and functions, including settlement and registry activities. Holders of financial instruments continued to have access to the services provided by the institution.

BVB said it is monitoring the integrity of its trading infrastructure and implementing measures to protect against and prevent cyber incidents. As of the time of the announcement, no disruptions to capital market activity had been reported.
