Environmental agreement for the Buzău–Brăila Expressway: the 112 km project enters a new phase

Raluca Giorgiana Dumitrescu, the president of the National Agency for Environment and Protected Areas, signed the environmental agreement for the Buzău–Brăila Expressway project, the institution announced on Monday.

The Buzău-Brăila Expressway project aims to create a section of express road between Buzău and Brăila, in accordance with the environmental objectives of the Local Action Plans for the Environment. It will have a length of 112.4 km, divided into 4 lots, and will be part of the OR3 inter-corridor – Danube. The implementation of the project is included in the General Transport Master Plan of Romania for the period 2016-2030. The positive impact of the project includes traffic flow improvement and decongestion of crowded areas. Environmental protection measures include constructions for water purification, anti-collision panels, sound-absorbing structures, structures for mammal underpasses, and tree plantings. The works will include road junctions, parking lots, and a maintenance center. The contract for the feasibility study was signed in February 2020.
