According to the TomTom Traffic Index ranking for 2025, Bucharest residents lost over 7 days in traffic last year, which is 171 hours, due to congestion during peak hours. The city's congestion index is 62.5%, an increase of 0.3 points compared to the previous year, suggesting that the measures taken by the authorities have not had significant effects on the traffic situation.

The average speed in Bucharest was only 18.5 km/h, and the average distance covered in 15 minutes was 4.6 km. Compared to other European capitals, Bucharest is in an unfavorable position, having a higher congestion rate than cities like Brussels, Athens, or Budapest.
