The General Council of Bucharest Municipality approved, with 42 votes in favor and 4 against, the contracting of repayable financing of up to 990 million lei, intended for the rehabilitation of road infrastructure. Mayor Ciprian Ciucu emphasized that the overpasses in Bucharest, built 50 years ago, present seismic risks.

The technical expertise from 2023 classified the Lujerului Overpass, Bucur-Obor Overpass, Victoriei Overpass, and Băneasa Bridge in technical class V, considered unsatisfactory for traffic safety. The total value of investments for these four objectives is 992,232,090 lei, and the loan is necessary to avoid interruptions in the works due to lack of liquidity. The project includes a maturity of up to 25 years and a grace period of up to 4 years. The Roads Administration has already started the bidding procedures for the execution of the works, highlighting the importance of these investments for modernizing the infrastructure and increasing traffic safety in the Capital.
