The BNS expressed support for the European Strategy for Combating Poverty, which recognizes its structural causes and proposes measures to reduce social vulnerabilities. The BNS emphasizes that wages in Romania are no longer keeping pace with the cost of living, and inflation and atypical forms of work exacerbate poverty in employment.

The strategy highlights the importance of collective bargaining, and the BNS calls for strengthening social dialogue and involving social partners in defining wage policies. Among the priority measures proposed by the BNS are the implementation of an adequate minimum wage, the expansion of collective bargaining, the reform of social assistance, and the development of social housing.

The BNS will submit amendments to recognize trade unions as providers of social services and to ensure their participation in the development of anti-poverty strategies. The president of the BNS, Dumitru Costin, emphasized that the success of the strategy depends on the implementation of these reforms in Romania.
