AUR maintains that it is not distancing itself from Călin Georgescu and criticizes the DIICOT investigation

AUR MP Ștefăniță-Alin Avrămescu stated that the party does not distance itself from Călin Georgescu and will remain by his side, in the context of the DIICOT investigation. He argued that the accusations do not change the party’s position, citing the presumption of innocence and the fact that Georgescu has not been convicted.

Avrămescu criticized what he called “abuses” and stated that, following the annulment of the 2024 presidential election and the banning of certain candidacies, there are doubts about the state of democracy in Romania. The MP argued that Georgescu has been repeatedly summoned for questioning and described the new case as another example of actions directed against him.

Regarding the jamming device that judicial sources say was found in Georgescu’s car, Avrămescu dismissed the speculation and stated that every person must explain what objects they have in their vehicle. He called for public attention to focus on the political crisis and the formation of a government, not on this device.

Călin Georgescu was taken from traffic, and prosecutors carried out searches at his home in Mogoșoaia. DIICOT announced five searches in a case concerning the establishment of an organized criminal group and fraud with particularly serious consequences.
