In the context of a major political blockage, the leader of the AUR senators, Petrișor Peiu, stated that Romania is "closer than ever" to early elections, considering the difficulties in forming a new Government. Peiu excluded supporting an Executive led by Sorin Grindeanu, accusing President Nicușor Dan of blocking political solutions. Although there have been no concrete discussions for organizing early elections, Peiu believes that this is a logical solution in the absence of a majority.
AUR refuses to support a PSD government and emphasized that it will not vote for Grindeanu. Additionally, Peiu mentioned that the party is open to dialogue with any political actor, but it will not change its position as long as it is excluded from negotiations for forming a majority. He suggested that the actions of the current president could lead to a new attempt at suspension.
